A Guide to Life in the Golden Years

The Primary Struggle: Internal

As we journey through life, especially upon entering retirement in our 60s, we encounter numerous internal challenges as we age. Here’s a guide based on my own reflections to help navigate this phase of life.

Mental Well-being

Keep the mind fresh, highly functional, active, and wise. This requires discipline and rigorous training.

    Physical Health

Maintain a healthy, active body that is independent of others, able to move freely, and not weakened by age.

      Family

Continue to be the central figure and guide for the family. Stay close to children, earn respect, and become a trusted reference. Focus on family unity first before getting involved in external politics. Build a family tree, stay connected with relatives and neighbors.

        Economic Stability

Continuously build assets, property, and wealth. This is crucial for the future of oneself, family, and community. It serves as a defense against adversities.

          Financial Management

Manage finances and investments wisely. Continue building wealth to face inflation, rising costs, and the uncertain future. Financial security is key for the family; don’t let it become a weapon that defeats us.

            Continuous Learning

The world is changing rapidly, and information is vital. Learn at least one new thing every day. With smart devices, abundant knowledge and information are available. Train yourself to think, analyze, plan, and write.

              Broad-mindedness

Keeping an open mind is crucial to accepting and evaluating others’ knowledge and opinions. Respect differing views and distinguish between opinions and personal character. An open mind brings peace and makes it easier to forgive.

                Building Social Connections

Humans are social beings. Avoid or reduce conflicts. This is why I have little interest in politics. Foster good relationships, communicate, make friends, reject racism and cliques. Learn from each other and build a positive social attitude.

                  Sharing Knowledge & Experience

We should not only seek knowledge and experience from others but also share our own. Our knowledge, experiences, and successes, especially those not found in books or university lectures, can benefit others and help solve many societal and national issues. Cooperation leads to greater success.

                    Living with Purpose

This is the ultimate goal. Live a life dedicated to Allah and serve humanity. Strive for personal satisfaction and life success. Pursue the hereafter without neglecting worldly rewards. Balance is key: 50% relationship with Allah and 50% relationship with people, which constitutes true worship.

                      Conclusion

Always focus on personal targets and challenges first. Internal failure makes external success difficult. A clear guideline, system, and priorities are essential strategies for addressing personal questions, challenges, and responsibilities.

                      Wallahua’lam.
