The Urgency for Malays to Engage with Global Affairs

In today’s interconnected world, the economy of a nation is intricately linked to global events, particularly in the realm of power dynamics and the economies of major world players. Understanding foreign and international affairs is crucial for Malays to navigate this global landscape effectively.

As the world becomes more like a global village and nations akin to neighbors, spending time to comprehend global affairs is not just a hobby but a necessity. With the economy taking precedence and politics closely following, it’s evident that the two are intertwined. Exploring knowledge about the global wealth, which has been pondered, colonized, and explored by the West for centuries, is essential. It’s almost as if we are reclaiming what’s rightfully ours from their grasp.

At least, delving into the knowledge and investment opportunities in the global market, facilitated by electronic media, especially for young Malays, is crucial. They need exposure and education. I encourage my children, and I urge other Malay youths to do the same. Malaysian youth must not lag behind.

It’s important to realize that Malays are a minority, not just within ASEAN or Asia, but globally. So, how do we broaden the minds of Malays to the awareness and importance of staying updated on global affairs, especially in understanding their impact and implications on us?

Without this knowledge, we risk living in a bubble of false security, engaging in politics in a realm of imagination, unaware of our insignificance and vulnerability. We need a survival strategy, an awareness of the significant threats beyond our borders, and an understanding that time waits for no one.

In conclusion, Malays must break free from the confines of their limited perspective and embrace a global mindset. Ignorance is no longer bliss; it’s a liability in a world where knowledge is power and understanding global dynamics is key to survival and progress.
