I want to share my perspectives from two main aspects. First, my personal experiences in education, career, and economy. Second, my ten-year journey of efforts and contributions to help the Malay community and society in these areas.
Personal Experiences
Education
Growing up, I faced numerous challenges. I was an orphan from a poor family, with illiterate parents. Despite these hardships, I pushed myself to excel academically. There was no external financial support; my education was funded through sheer determination and hard work. I remember my uncle Harun giving me a chicken to raise and my aunt Tok Cik Limah providing an old cow with a broken horn. These small gestures were significant as they helped finance my school expenses.
Career
Entering the workforce without any support was another uphill battle. Every step of my career was self-driven. There were no mentors, no guidance, just an unwavering resolve to succeed. My journey from the lowest rung to the top 0.01% in my field is a testament to what determination and perseverance can achieve.
Economy
Financial independence was something I had to learn on my own. Without any economic aid or guidance, I navigated through the complexities of financial management and investments. This self-taught journey not only helped me achieve personal financial stability but also gave me insights into the economic challenges faced by others.
Commitment to Community Service
For the past decade, I’ve dedicated my efforts to assisting the Malay community in education, career development, and economic empowerment. This commitment is rooted in my own life’s challenges and the belief that these three areas are crucial for achieving personal excellence. Here’s why I chose these areas and how they relate to my life’s journey over seven decades.
Education
I believe that training and education are foundational. If I had access to better educational resources and training earlier in life, my journey would have been smoother. Thus, I focus on providing educational support to help others achieve excellence.
Career
Coaching and mentorship in career development are equally important. Understanding how to excel in one’s career can significantly change life trajectories. I offer guidance to help individuals navigate their career paths more effectively.
Economy
Economic advice and guidance are essential for financial success. Sharing my experiences and knowledge about managing finances and investments can help others avoid the mistakes I made and achieve economic stability more quickly.
Life Lessons and Philosophies
Continuous Learning
Even though I’ve reached a certain level of success, I acknowledge that there are many others more successful than me. I constantly seek to learn from them. Simultaneously, I understand that there are millions who can learn from my experiences.
No Retirement Policy
I believe in a no retirement policy. Hard work, dedication, and discipline are irreplaceable. The biggest obstacle is often oneself, mindset and attitude. It’s important to focus on what God would think of our actions rather than the opinions of others.
Managing Life’s Complexities
Balancing personal, family, and societal responsibilities requires effective time management, valuable knowledge, skills, and a willingness to share and help others. My financial resources are seen as a blessing from God, part of which should be used to help those in need, starting with family and neighbors.
Overcoming External Challenges
Lack of Knowledge and Experience
One of the main reasons people fall behind is the lack of knowledge and experience. Opportunities must be recognised and seized to the fullest.
Closed Mindsets
Another issue is the closed mindset influenced by outdated political and social systems. Breaking free from these mental constraints is crucial for progress.
Weak Work Ethic
A weak work ethic, lack of dedication, and discipline hinder success. These are the core values that must be strengthened to achieve excellence.
Final Thoughts
I believe in speaking, writing, and acting in ways that earn rewards from God and avoiding actions that lead to sin. It’s important to focus on God’s perspective rather than human opinions. Recognising that both good and bad experiences are valuable lessons is essential for continuous improvement. My mission is to share my knowledge and experiences to help others rise above their challenges and achieve their full potential.
